32 Westsail 1975 w/Central Heat/Air, Roller Furling, 1988 Yanmar Diesel

The chain locker, containing rodes for two anchors, is located in the forepeak. The original V-berth, constructed according to Westsail kit plans for this boat, provided voluminous storage below. However, it was cramped and difficult to climb into and out of. The current owners lowered the V-berth approximately 16 inches and installed new teak battens on the walls to make the area more spacious and inviting (3/14 7/14). Even lowered, storage area beneath is generous. The V-berth measures 8 wide at its widest x 62 deep; the new cushion (installed 11/14) features 6 foam bonded to 2 of memory foam.

The head/wardrobe compartment is located aft of the V-berth, with an enclosed head, cabinet and sink to port and a hanging locker and a six-drawer wardrobe to starboard. A bulkhead separates this compartment from the main salon, which features facing port and starboard settees. The starboard settee pulls out to provide a generous single berth, while a drop-leaf dining table lowers from the bulkhead to port. Lockers and bookshelves are located outboard of and beneath these settees on both sides. The main salon originally included a pilot berth to starboard; however this was removed to provide additional storage.

The galley is located to port at rear of main cabin. The nav station, communications equipment, breaker panels, and a wet locker are opposite. The engine compartment occupies the aft portion of the boat below deck, containing the engine, fuel tank, batteries, engine heater, and portions of the HVAC system. The cockpit is located topside above the engine compartment. Finally, a lazarette, containing the HF antenna coupler and additional storage, is located astern topside.

Cabin headroom is 62 throughout. Cabin sole and joinery are of solid teak; overhead is cypress and naugahyde; cabin walls are teak and cypress. Due to the boats 11 beam carried well forward and aft and displacement hull, there is plentiful storage everywhere.
